Electrical Industry Shows Significant Signs Of Recovery
After the cloudy years of recession, the global outlook for both Industrial Electrical and Consumer Electronics markets is looking very sunny indeed. Whilst the emergence from recession is in fact dependent on and driven by the sale of luxury electronic goods, understanding of the state of the electrical components industry isn’t exactly widespread. Nonetheless, both of these crucial industries are recovering and the latest indication of this is the growth in demand for Deutsch connectors in UK. That is, the American based brand and the unrelated German economy.
Wendel Investments have been proudly sending press releases announcing the recovery of many of their child companies, Deutsch among them. Deutsch itself had a 45.8% increase in third quarter sales over the same quarter in 2009. Inventory rebuilding among makers of Heavy Goods Vehicles, Earth Movers and other construction vehicles is behind the increased demand for their high-performance connectors. Help also came from a stabilising Aerospace industry, though it isn’t seeing any particular growth. The expectation is that the full year report on 2010 will be back to the results of pre-crisis 2008.
Meanwhile, the German economy shows indicates that things are picking up on the other side of the Atlantic too. The German electrical component market is expected to increase about 24% to around 15 billion Euro in the coming year. Meanwhile, consumer electronics have been experiencing a boom ever since the Summer’s World Cup (where Germany Psychic-Octopused their way into the Semi-Finals). This resulted in a growth of 5.5% in sales for the first nine months this year.
However fuses of rage are melting in some global Electrical-dependent businesses: the recession meant pinched production capacity, meaning the 2010 year has seen difficulties meeting demand with insufficient stockpiles. There are also problems further down the food chain, with high energy prices and dwindling raw materials an issue.
